Currie hooker Fergus Scott will add to a month of highs when he leads his country against Argentina for the first time tomorrow.
After signing his first professional contract with Glasgow Warriors at the tail end of May, Scott will skipper Scotland under-20 in their final pool match at the IRB Junior World Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa.
The national team, which features Boroughmuir centre Keith Buchan for the first time, will look to build on Friday’s 29-30 defeat to France and record their first win of the campaign.
Head coach Peter Wright explained he handed the armband to Malleny Park man Scott because the brother of Scotland centre Matt is a “natural leader”.
Wright said: “I have chosen Fergus as captain because he is a natural leader, who has a presence among the players and talks at the right times on the pitch. For me he was an obvious candidate to take the captain’s armband.”
