British age-group medallist Peter Loudon will look to add a Scottish honour to his name at the National under-18 and under-20 Indoor Championships in Glasgow this weekend (March 3-4).
Loudon, 18, from Edinburgh, is set to enter the 400m event in the west of Scotland and will look to replicate the sort of form that saw him claim bronze in the 800m at the England Athletics under-20 event in Birmingham at the end of February.
Loudon, who will turn 19 next week, clocked a personal best during his 800m heat in the English Midlands with a time of 1:53:88. He then beat his record for a second successive time by timing 1:52:90 in the final to finish third.
Loudon’s fellow Edinburgh Athletic Club members, Silvano Marcantonio and Ben Robbins, also competed at Birmingham. Robbins emerged first in his under-17 200m heat but, despite a personal best of 22:51 in his semi-final, he was eliminated after finishing second. Marcantonio could not qualify for the 60m and 400m finals, but came fifth in the under-15 200m event with a personal best of 24:03.
